Gut health is so important. When our gut is in balance, we’re better able to absorb the nutrients from our food.
Gut Health and Why It Matters
A healthy gut is important for other reasons too, including:
- Digestive health
- Immune system function
- Energy levels
- Mental health
Different things affect the bacterial makeup of our gut lining. Quality of our diet, medications we may be taking, and sugar and alcohol intake all have an impact.
When bad bacteria flourish, we experience digestive discomfort including gas, bloating; stomach pain, nausea, and constipation, diarrhea or both.
Benefits of a Healthy Gut
When good bacteria are present and doing their job, the vitamins and minerals from our food are more fully absorbed.
We have more energy, our stomach looks flatter, and our body begins to function in optimal health.
The good news is, we can help the health of our gut by making simple dietary changes.
